If I add some gluten flour to the burger I think it will firm up don't you

I prefer my burgers a bit firmer too so I know exactly what you mean. The Down Home Burger isn't actually one of my recipes. I shared it from a book I reviewed and it is pretty soft so it might not be the best one for you to try. I am just about to print and try your Down Home Vegan BBQ Burger recipe.

This will be my seventh vegan burger recipe to try!

The previous ones were like eating hummus -- no texture, no mouth feel. Yuk...
