Plant milk doesn't give quite as good a result as aquafaba. It ends up a little softer. It's only a marginal difference though.
I can't imagine this as a dessert but I guess you could add sugar. My only worry would be whether the sugar would burn a bit while it was cooking. Keep a close eye on it in the second half of cooking just in case, especially the underneath of the cubes. Hope that helps!

Hi Melanie, ate this with salad tonight and loved it, thank you! Considering using plant milk instead of Aquafaba and sugar with the cornmeal instead to make this more of a dessert. What do you think? Could it be made “sweeter”?
