Chocolate + Tahini = complete & utter deliciousness. Honestly....Don't take my word for it..Make a batch of these Chocolate Tahini Crunch Bars & find out for yourself!
Having this blog has made me realize just how much I love chocolate. I have a notebook full of recipe ideas that I jot down as they pop into my head and I think that about 80% of them involve chocolate in one way or another. I literally have to force myself not to publish a chocolate fuelled recipe every week. I can only hold back for so long though and it's been at least two and a half weeks since I published my Healthy Chocolate Smoothie recipe. That's long enough to wait, right?
THE ULTIMATE CHOCOLATY TREAT
These Chocolate Tahini Crunch Bars are the ultimate chocolaty treat, but as indulgent as they are, they are also packed full of healthy, nutrient rich ingredients like tahini, buckwheat groats, hemp hearts and rolled oats. All of these wholesome ingredients are combined with dark chocolate and tahini to make the most delicious and hard to resist bars.
A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN
Chocolate and tahini are, quite literally, a match made in heaven. The rich, roasted sesame flavour coming through in the chocolate is so good, and the textures from the other crispy, crunchy and chewy ingredients are out of this world. I literally could not stop eating them.
SO QUICK TO MAKE!
These Chocolate Tahini Crunch Bars only take ten minutes max to make, then need a few hours to set up in the fridge, although you could hurry this along by placing them in the freezer for a little while instead. Once they are set, all you need to do is slice them into bars or squares and you are good to go. I cut mine into sixteen bars but you can make yours as big or small as you like. They are pretty rich so I wouldn't advise cutting them too big.
CHANGE IT UP
As long as you stick to the chocolate tahini ratio in this recipe, the rest of the ingredients are pretty interchangeable. If you don't have one of them just sub it for a bit more of one of the others or add something that you do have in your pantry instead. Other ingredients that would work well really are puffed quinoa and nuts. Have fun and be inventive!

Thank you so much Jane. I'm really pleased you enjoyed it!

Hi , I dont actually know what buckwheat groats are, and I dont really want to buy an expensive item just for one recipe, (I'm in Australia and anything like that tends to be ludicrously expensive) so can you give me an idea of what would be an appropriate sub ie texture and/or how it 'works' in the recipe? Thank you very much! :)
A Virtual Vegan says
Buckwheat groats are hard and crunchy and look kind of like steel cut oats. They are in this recipe for their texture. This recipe is really flexible though and as long as you keep the tahini, chocolate ratio the same you can add whatever you like. Nuts and seeds would all be good subs.

Hi
My last question should have said...could you tell me not monte! And how many grams. Sorry.
Sharon

Hi Sharon, All the gram measurements are there now. There should be no reason it wouldn't set unless you added far too much tahini. There are a lot of ingredients to add to the chocolate mixture but it should all mix in ok. When you put it into the tin to set be sure you press it all down so it's really compact and make sure you leave it long enough before cutting. It takes quite a few hours for it to set properly.

Hi
Could you tell Monte how many grand a cup equates to. I used the internet and it said a chip is 340g. When I put all the dried ingredients in it didn't set and crumbled when I cut it.
Thanks

Hello,
These chocolate tahini crunch bars sound amazing. I have a question though and apparently i am the only one who can't figure this out cause i read the comments and no one else made a comment/question.
Do you use chocolate chips or chocolate bars? I am thinking not cacao powder or you would have said that.
Two cups of chocolate is a lot .
Can't wait to hear what you say cause I want to make these. My husband, especially loves chocolate these days.
Thanks, Robin m.

Hi Robin,
It makes no difference whether you use chocolate chips or chocolate bars. Just whatever you have or can get. Don't use cocoa though. That's why I give the cups and weight measurement as a chocolate bar wouldn't fit in the cups like chips would. It is a lot of chocolate but it makes about 16 good sized squares ( you can cut them as big or small as you like though). I did just notice a mistake on the recipe that says it serves 1. As much as I'd like to eat it all it does serve at least 9, more if you cut them smaller. I will amend that error tonight. I hope you both enjoy them. They are really good!

These are fantastic. Simple and quick and a gorgeous consistency. Just the right amount of crunch. I am in love! I don't know how you figured out that they will last for up to four weeks...there is no way that could have happened in real life! :-)
